The Belgium based international sales consultancy Valueselling.be has set up an initiative to help entrepreneurs in developing countries.
The consultants of Valueselling are delivering business development aid by means of local capacity building. Training and coaching programs in the areas of selling skills and customer service are being designed in collaboration with NGO's like Corprorate Funding Program, Via Don Bosco, and Louvain Cooperation.
The first project, comprising Train the Trainer sessions for 10 teachers and Selling and Customer Service skills for 30 entrepreneurs, took place in Manzini, Swasiland in januari 2012. In the Manzini Youth Care, an EU funded project for young entrepreneurs, hosted by DMOS Salesians, youth entrepreneurs were trained in skills required to run a business, such as marketing, customer care, book keeping and innovation and creativity.
The Valueselling team continues offers sales training on a volunteer basis in developing countries. In 2013 training was given to the representatives of Louvain Coopration Mutualités in Togo and Benin. The participants learned especially to deal with sales effectiveness and objection handling. The subscription rate rose with 24 % after the training!
In December 2014 Valueselling South has been coaching the Learn to Live program in Capetown, South Africa, to set up a new fundraising model.
In January 2015 Valueselling South gave sales training to development workers in Peru and Bolivia, to enhance the sales of quinoa and exotic herbs.
Jan Flamend’s book Waar waren wij gebleven is still available on our webstore at 19,50 euros. It contains travel stories, and the royalties are donated to Valueselling South, to finance its NGO activities. www.janflamend.be
'I am very excited about this initiative', Flamend says. 'We hope to be able to contribute to the skills of business people in developing countries, so that they can improve the sustainable character of their ventures. It is not our ambition to transplant Western business models, the challenge lies in adapting to local conditions and help in terms of capacity building.'
